Born in Sweden, Michaela trained professionaly in Paris, studing contemporary dance and theatre. Presenting her choreographic works on stage, she turns towards more performative pieces, especially designed for public space, giving importance to the interaction and the experiance of the audience. Her artistic research deals with questions about identity, how to live together and understand each other. Her texts mixes absurdities with intimate matters and existential questions, including an important part of humor.
She collaborates with many choreographers and directors: Cécile Lassonde, Cie Bis Itinéraire, Emmanuel Houzé, Ruth Uscalovsky, Jeffrey Bracco, Olivier Boréel, François Roche, Cécile Messineo, and Fanny Gayard. She also works with the Swedish Puppet Theater on several creations.
In 2000, she created the company Moveo, a multidisciplinary company blending dance, movement, theater, puppetry, and visual arts, with creations for adults, young audiences, and public spaces. Certain themes run continuously through her work: the use of spaces and sharing with the audience. Each location is questioned to become a tool, a crossroads, an opportunity for encounter. Public spaces are inhabited to create a tumult, a shared experience where the audience can appropriate the message, as if it were personally addressed to them.
Transmission going hand in hand with creation, Michaela is deeply involved with various audiences, particularly children and young people. She regularly contributes to the training of social educators at institutions such as IRTS, EFPP, and ENS. She has been teaching at the Municipal Conservatories since 2013, from introductory levels to the third cycle.
Since 2020, she has been supported by La Fabrique de la Danse and participates in numerous projects, including Impulsion, a collective of choreographers working towards social impact.
In 2024, she created and became the director of Hydra Dance Days, an international festival held annually in Greece, on the island of Hydra.
