Touché, Notes on Love and Catastrophies is about friendship and love, of complicity and solitude, of women and men. We wish to write a statement of intent, yet all that comes to us are questions:
When we see a woman and a man dancing together, can we imagine anything other than a love story?
To what extent are we trapped in a heteronormative logic? And where is the way out?
Why is there no verb to describe the act of being friends?
How can we endure the fact that women and men are shown and perceived differently? How can we learn to see differently? How can we create the freedom to exist on stage?
This performance is a contemporary queer tale, but by continuing to speak of women and men, are we making a mistake? Or worse, are we hurting someone? Is it possible to order the partner of our dreams through an app? Or is it better to stop dreaming of love altogether?
The creation is composed of several short pieces, mobile and adaptable to different types of spaces. Close to the audience, solos and duets intertwine, dances and texts follow one another like fleeting notes of love and disaster.
“In my life, I encounter millions of bodies; of those millions, I may desire hundreds; but of those hundreds, I love only one.
The other, the one I am in love with, defines the specificity of my desire.”
